Welcome to
Extended Learning
And Community Schools
Welcome
The Department of Extended Learning and Community Schools oversees many of the after-school programs in the district, including Kaleidoscope Corner Licensed School-Age Child Care at 36 elementary schools, and the Neighborhood Center programs at Cole, Lake, Noel, Morey, Place, Randolph and Skinner middle schools, Techknow and Supplemental Services programs.
All of these programs provide DPS students a safe, enriching place to continue their studies, explore new skills and make friends during out-of-school time.
The department also includes Denver Public Schools Volunteer Services, which facilitates the use of over 500 volunteers to enhance learning opportunities for students throughout the district, and also handles Community Donations for the school district.
As the after-school experts within the district, the Department also administers the Lights On After-School fundraising initiative. This year, nearly 60 DPS schools received grant funds to customize their own quality after-school programming. This innovative funding partnership among Denver Public Schools, Mile High United Way, the City and County of Denver and the Denver Public Schools Foundation continues to build momentum through support from the community.
